SANDHYA JAIRAJ

Pronounced “sun-thee-yuh jay-rahj”, but more commonly called Sandy.

I am a San Diego based rock climber, artist, and life-enthusiast. Raised in the eastern United States, I had not seen much of the country until my early twenties when I was on the road and headed west with my best pal. While the endlessly shifting landscapes moved me, it was the first sight of mountains that really shifted something in me.

I will never forget the feeling that seeing mountains ignited in me — the dizzying incomprehension of scale, of being so small and fleeting and unlikely — positively grateful for being anything at all.

I’ve been ruled by that feeling ever since. When I’m not working as a marketing professional in the outdoor industry, I am chasing that feeling up boulders and into the wild. I am surrounded by it in the presence of loved ones, or I am trying to articulate it by putting paint on paper.
